The Name
आयाम — the dimension.
Aayama (आयाम) is Sanskrit for dimension, extent, expansion — from the root yam, "to govern," with the prefix ā, "towards completion." It is a word every Hindi speaker already knows: naye aayam — new dimensions.
It is also the second half of Pranayama — the fourth limb of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, written two thousand years ago. Prana is the life-force; ayama is its disciplined expansion.
